Investment Management process showing portfolio design, implementation, monitoring, and rebalancing.

Professional Portfolio Management

Investment Management is designed for households that want professional management of their investment accounts but prefer to handle retirement income, spending, tax, and other financial decisions independently.

The relationship focuses on portfolio construction, implementation, monitoring, and rebalancing within the accounts we manage.

This service does not include the ongoing retirement coordination provided through our Ongoing Advisory relationship.

Investment Management is provided on a discretionary basis, meaning we are authorized to implement investment decisions within the accounts covered by the management agreement.

Our fee schedule is tiered, beginning at 1.00% on the first $1 million and declining at higher asset levels.

Includes:

  • Discretionary investment management, including portfolio design, investment selection, trading, and rebalancing based on the agreed investment strategy.
  • Ongoing portfolio monitoring, including allocation, risk exposure, account structure, and tax considerations within the managed portfolio.
  • Investment implementation and account maintenance, with adjustments made when portfolio conditions or agreed investment objectives warrant.

First year

  • Strategy Launch: Review the recommended investment strategy before implementation.
  • Annual Review: Review portfolio performance, allocation, risk exposure, and any investment-related changes requiring attention.

Subsequent years

  • Annual Review, with additional investment-related support available as needed throughout the year.

Who It’s For

Investment Management is designed for households that want professional management of their investment accounts while remaining comfortable handling retirement income, spending, tax, and withdrawal decisions independently.

This service may be a good fit if you:

  • Want ongoing discretionary portfolio management
  • Do not need ongoing retirement coordination
  • Are comfortable making spending, withdrawal, tax, and other financial decisions independently
  • Typically have at least $500,000 in investable assets

What's included in Investment Management

The relationship is focused specifically on the investment accounts we manage.

Included:

  • Investment strategy and portfolio construction based on the agreed investment objectives, time horizon, and risk tolerance
  • Discretionary portfolio management, including investment selection, trading, and rebalancing
  • Ongoing portfolio monitoring of allocation, risk exposure, and account structure
  • Tax-aware investment implementation within managed accounts
  • RMD and portfolio distribution management for managed accounts, including calculating required distributions, raising cash, and determining which holdings to sell
  • Consideration of known liquidity needs that you communicate to us
  • Direct advisor access for investment-related questions
  • A tiered asset-based fee schedule

Not included:

  • Broader retirement income planning
  • Spending analysis
  • Multi-year withdrawal strategy across managed and outside assets
  • Roth conversion analysis or broader tax planning
  • Social Security claiming analysis
  • Medicare or IRMAA planning

Investment Management is intended for households that want professional portfolio oversight without the broader retirement coordination provided through the Ongoing Advisory relationship.

Fees are calculated using a blended tiered schedule, meaning each rate applies only to the portion of assets within that tier. Fees are non-negotiable, prorated as applicable, and billed quarterly in advance based on the value of managed assets as of the last day of the previous quarter.

For example, a $5 million portfolio would have an annual advisory fee of $43,000, or an effective rate of 0.86%:

($1,000,000 × 1.00%) + ($1,000,000 × 0.90%) + ($3,000,000 × 0.80%) = $43,000 annually

$43,000 ÷ 4 = $10,750 per quarter
